About Forget Me Not
Deceiving the vampire that saved her could get her killed, but it’s a risk she’s willing to take.
When tragedy strikes, Rae makes a terrible choice and struggles with the aftermath. In the wilderness of the Tongass rainforest, she finds herself hunted by creatures of hell, monsters she never dreamed could be real.
A hidden world, an ancient race, and a secret she discovers by accident give a new meaning to her life but only if she can escape and return to civilization. If she is to survive, Rae must comply with Ari, her reluctant hero, and allow him to wipe away any memory of this realm. Knowledge is power, but is it worth dying for?
When push comes to shove, that’s when real strength emerges.

My Review
Rae loses everyone she’s ever loved and finds herself at the end of her rope. One bad decision leads to many more until she’s unsure what reality looks like. Rae treads through the forest late one night and comes across some strange folks who talk in riddles. After a time, she flees and finds herself among different strangers. Strangers who seem to want to save her yet harm her too. Is Rae losing her grasp on what’s real, or is the world different than it appears?
I enjoyed Rae’s character. She’s feisty and sarcastic. That is something I love in a female heroine. Unfortunately, her personality seems at odds with reason. She runs from one dangerous situation, only to accept another dangerous circumstance.
The rest of the characters felt like caricatures of real people. I couldn’t find it in myself to like any of them. Jason turned me off. His sexual aggression toward Rae made me uncomfortable. And Rae thought this behavior was okay. None of them clicked for me.
The wooded Alaskan setting was wonderful. I enjoyed the natural surroundings with the cliffs, trees, caves, and the river. The location felt peaceful even if the characters didn’t.
This novel feels somewhat unfinished. The whole book builds the world but then drops off. It’s more like a 300-page introduction, yet the stories wound throughout left me uneasy.
Another thing that felt off was the obvious link to the Twilight series. The character names are interchangeable, as are certain behaviors. Though, this novel has a partiality toward the wolves. There isn’t quite enough originality.
I award Forget Me Not 3 out of 5 stars. This book is a fantastic start to what could be a great series. It just isn’t there yet.
