My Review of Escaping Home
Christine Stewart is back and still living in Los Angeles. The year is 2072, and the world is on the brink of the third world war. Biotoxins, chemical warfare, nuclear weapons are everywhere, and no one is safe. The only clear solution is to travel to the past and wait out the catastrophe. But, their chosen location and era are not all that the travelers thought it would be. Danger looms, dark and mysterious, from every direction. All seems lost for our friends when a slight miracle happens, thanks to Christine’s quick thinking. But, is this miracle solve all their problems, or will this turn into another disaster? Will the world ever recover from the war? What will happen to our friends?
Christine and Ethan’s plan to save their loved ones from war is brilliant. I knew they would have to get to the past since this is a time-traveling series. The way they get there is a stroke of genius. I did have my doubts about their chosen location. I was hoping for a trip back to Oklahoma, where it all began, but it would have caused too many problems in the historical timeline, and I understand that. But, a blast from Oklahoma does show up in this last book in the form of Jacob, who I fell in love with during Book 2 when he was a child. I was so happy to see him.
I don’t want to give away anything, but I will say that the past has many surprises in store for you while reading. Nothing is as it seems, and I swear, I was on the edge of my seat during the entire thing. Again, this book is short, but it packs one mighty punch!
I also love this series so much that I read books one and three on the same day, stopping just long enough to head out to pick up my daily Dunkin order, but then it was right back to it. I just couldn’t stop myself!
Every single detail has me completely engrossed. Christy wraps up this series in the best way, and I could not be happier with the ending.
I award Escaping Home a full 5 out of 5 stars. You can certainly read each of these three books as standalone novels, but I do recommend the entire series. The way the three novels come together as a whole is subtle but incredible. There really is something for everyone in these books. The future world feels so real, and the past has so much research involved. There is even a little romance at play here. But, I must warn you, several truly tragic moments had me sobbing until I couldn’t catch my breath.
