I saw this book tag over on Ellie’s blog, Read to Ramble. It looked like great fun so I decided to do it too. We don’t know the original creator of this tag, but if you know, please let me know so I can tag them properly.

The Questions

1. How many books are too many books in a series?

I’m going to be wishy-washy and say that it depends on the series. If I am invested in the characters there are never too many. But, if the series is one that is doing sequels for the sheer purpose of trying to drag the story on, I would rather go without.

One series that I adore is the Supernatural Investigations series that stars Amari Peters. The first book is Amari and the Night Brothers. I will read this series until the end of time.

2. How do you feel about cliffhangers?

I hate cliffhangers! I want my stories all tied up in a neat little bow. Even in a series, I want the current story to wrap up completely before moving on.

3. Hardback or Paperback?

Hmmm…it depends, I guess. If it is a book that I will only read one time like a romance, I prefer paperback. They are easier to part with. However, I prefer hardback in most things. All of my beloved series are all here in hardback form. I am a huge fan of mythology and I like those to be in hardback format.

4. Favourite book?

So easy! My favorite book is Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen. This book was my first foray into classical literature and I have loved it ever since. I couldn’t imagine a world where Sense and Sensibility didn’t exist.

5. Least favourite book?

I don’t know that I have a least favorite book. I tend not to finish books if I don’t like them.

6. Love triangles, yes or no?

Love triangles can be fun if done correctly. I hate them if they are the sole plotline. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I loved the love triangle of Bella/Edward/Jacob in Twilight. I was, and still am, Team Jacob. I can’t stand Edward. But that was a good one for me. However, in your everyday throwaway romance, they are not my favorite.

7. The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

The Devil and the Dark Water, but not because I don’t like it. I actually love it, but I just don’t have the time to read it right now. I made it halfway through and I will pick it up again when my schedule clears up a little. But, as it is, I have renewed it 5 times from the library and they want it back.

8. A book you’re currently reading?

Well, I am currently reading 3 books, and I finished a 4th this afternoon. They are: An Offer From a Gentleman (a Bridgerton novel), The Kite Runner, and Aftershock by JJ Blacklocke.

9. Last book you recommended to someone?

I can’t remember. I told my mom that she should read one of the John Grisham novels, but she had already read it. My daughter asked me about A Thousand Splendid Suns and I told her that I enjoyed The Kite Runner by the same author, so I guess that could be a recommendation.

10. Oldest book you’ve read?

Oh dear, the oldest book I’ve read would have to be Epic of Gilgamesh. It was a college required reading, but I enjoyed it well enough.

11. Newest book you’ve read?

A Captain for Caroline Gray. It is a tour book and I think it publishes this week.

12. Favourite author?

My favorite author is by and far Jane Austen. If you want someone more recent, I am at a loss. I enjoy a variety and there is no one that stands out in particular.

13. Buying books or borrowing books?

My preference is buying books, but as funds are very low, I borrow most of my books. I have a great relationship with my local library.

14. A book you dislike that everyone else seems to love?

Anything written by Nicholas Sparks. I can’t stomach the sickly sweetness that is in every word of his books. They make me want to vomit.

15. Bookmarks or dog-ears?

Oh dear, bookmarks should be everyone’s answer. Right?

16. A book you can always reread?

I have so many that I love to reread. As silly as it seems, I reread the Princess Diaries series at least once a year and often twice.

17. Can you read while listening to music?

Yes, I need the noise to help me concentrate on what I’m reading. Music relaxes me so that I can really get into something. If there is no music, I fidget or fall asleep.

18. One POV or multiple POVs?

I enjoy multiple POV because you get more of the story that way. There are so many times that I wish I could hear another characters thoughts about a certain scene. For example, I would love to have a Haymitch or Peeta POV in The Hunger Games. Katniss is too angsty for her own good sometimes, so a voice of reason would be good to hear.

19. Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Both. I often read books in two days because I am overbooked, but I sat and read A Captain for Caroline Gray in its entirety today.

20. Who do you tag?

Jenny, Carol, Cat, Haadu, Gina Rae

If I have tagged you and you don’t want to do this tag, no worries. If I haven’t tagged you but you do want to do this tag, please go ahead. I would love to be linked so I can read your answers!
