If She Dies Blurb
How far would you go to right a wrong?
Nine months ago, Tess’s five-year-old daughter was killed in a car accident. The driver, Brady Becker, was sentenced to two years in prison. It didn’t make Tess’s pain go away.
Brady also has a daughter: A twelve-year-old named Eve who walks to Chandler Middle School every day. Tess knows this because she’s been watching Eve for the last three weeks. It isn’t fair that Brady’s daughter gets to live, while Tess’s daughter does not.
When Eve goes missing, all eyes turn to Tess, who doesn’t have an alibi. But Tess isn’t guilty.
Or so she believes.

My Review
If She Dies is an intense yet heartbreaking story. Erik Therme does a fantastic job telling the story of a grieving mother who is a little unhinged. I sat down to read in the morning and didn’t stop until I finished. I was completely engrossed in this novel.
I do want to say that I feel duped by the blurb. From those few words, I expected something much more sinister and edgy than what I read. But, none of that matters much as the book more than delivered on entertainment. Even though it wasn’t what I expected, the brilliance was still there.
The main character, Tess, is one I despised with much passion. She is incredibly selfish and oblivious to the suffering of anyone around her. But, as the story moves along, you get to see inside her head and understand this is how she grieves. I never cared for her, but I understood her actions and cried right alongside her.
Once the details started coming, I found myself wanting to grab Eve and hug her. I felt an intense need to protect her from all the crazy people around her. I’m still not satisfied with the ending, but I hope beyond hope that there is more to come. The author left an astonishing lead into a sequel.
I award If She Dies 4 out of 5 stars. I loved this book! I recommend it to anyone who loves thrillers. There are many tough issues tackled here, but the novel is well worth it.
