My Review of Follow Him:
Craig Stewart offers a disturbing and twisted tale of gore in his latest novel, Follow Him. I found myself horrified yet unable to look away and ended up reading it in one night.
I’m not sure where to begin in my review of this book. I was starting to open myself up to the thought that I might like the horror genre, but upon reading this one, I know that I am not ready to tackle any more for a while.
I am going to admit that I hated this novel. However, my opinion can not take away the genius that is behind it. Craig Stewart is a twisted individual, but from that, we get books like this. The writing is impeccable. While all I read was what seemed like gore for the sheer sake of gore, the underlying theme is brilliant.
However, as I said in my intro paragraph, I absolutely could not look away from the words. I was on the brink of being sick yet could not tear my eyes away from the glowing tablet in my hand. I can’t remember the last time a book hooked me in this way, and never with a book that I despised. So, that should be an indicator of the strength of this novel.
I can only offer Follow Him a full 5 out of 5 stars, regardless of my strong desire to burn it to the ground.
Craig Stewart, you have outdone yourself, and I give you great props.
